Trees move in at Science Village

Publicerad: 21 March, 2017 av Peter Andersson |

The construction of the tramline between Lund Central Station and Science Village/ESS will affect eight of the approximately 100 trees located at Clemenstorget. Shortly, these trees will be moved and replanted at Vindarnas Park in Science Village. The moving of these trees, six plane and two linden, is not only a complicated and spectacular project – it is also a symbolic act, as a part of Lund’s history will be given a new beginning in the future district of Brunnshög.

New agreement signed

Publicerad: 17 March, 2017 av Peter Andersson |

Science Village and Akademiska Hus have signed an agreement giving Akademiska Hus exclusive rights for a period of two years to develop a concept for a specific construction right at Science Village.

This concept is called House for Universities in Sweden and, in short, aims to create a working and meeting place for all universities desiring outstations the ESS and MAX IV vicinity. The concept includes both offices and laboratories, as well as cafés and virtual meeting places.

It is the ambition of Akademiska Hus to begin the development of this concept during the spring, starting with a comprehensive market survey among representatives of the country’s educational institutions. The aim is to map needs and preferences, as well as to discover new and innovative methods for collaboration between educational institutions, researchers and any other parties active in the field. The contact at Akademiska Hus is Jeanette Brinkfält (+46 46 31 13 07 or jeanette.brinkfalt@akademiskahus.se)

The construction right in question covers 8,000 m² and the intention is for construction work to be completed in 2020.

Science Village welcomes new colleagues

Publicerad: 17 March, 2017 av Peter Andersson |

Science Village’s operations continue to expand, meaning that we need to enlarge our organisation. It is therefore with great pleasure and pride that we announce the arrival of two new colleagues:

Peter Andersson will take up his position at Science Village on April 1. Peter’s primary role will be to manage the processes necessary to construct a science centre at Science Village. Peter joins us from an Administrative Director role at MAX IV. Prior to that, Peter was Project Director and later CEO of Norrköpings Visualiseringscenter.

Fredrik Melander will take up his new position at Science Village on September 1. Fredrik will lead the establishment of academic outstations, research institutes and businesses at Science Village. Fredrik has a doctorate in political sciences and joins us from a post as senior advisor to the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
