Nanova planning expansion of facilities in Science Village
Nanotechnology is moving ahead quickly and Lund has been in the forefront of advances. Now plans are being laid down that will see a production facility for pilot products based upon advances in nanotechnology being built in Science Village, according to proposals released this week.
If all goes to schedule, the plant would be up and running by 2018 and be able to capitalise upon the unrivalled measuring capabilities at the then operating MAX IV high brilliance synchrotron and the ESS, to be operational one year later.
The Nanova initiative will provide companies the opportunity to take the critical step from research to full-scale prototype production without having to leave Sweden, surrounded by the world’s two leading analytic facilities for materials science.
Vinnova and Region Skåne are funding a feasibility study of the project, which was initiated by the Nanometer Structure Consortium at Lund University.
The production facility will be called Nanova and will be built upon the Science Village area which sits in close proximity to ESS and MAX IV as its nearest neighbors.
